Journal - Week 11

This past week in media I have managed to get started on the evaluation of our final edited title sequence. As a guideline, each individual was given a set of questions in regards to our title sequence. The purpose of these questions are to cover each different aspect of our title sequence.

The questions are as follows:

  • How does your media product represent particular social groups
  • What kind of media institute might distribute your product and why?
  • What would be the audience for your media product?
  • How did you attract/address your audience
  • What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product
  • Looking back at the preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the final product
After reading these set of questions, I feel that I will be able each individual question to the best of my ability mainly because I feel confident that we have achieved success throughout the creation of our title sequence. In addition, throughout the creation of our title sequence I have updated my blog on a regular basis; which therefore shall ease the questions a little as I will know what has happened throughout each stage and step.

How is the editing coming on of our final title sequence?
The editing element is coming along well, although it would be much more simple if our title sequence had been completed, I still strongly feel that our title sequence shall be finished within the next few days. I personally am not in charge of editing; therefore it is not entirely yup to me when we will finish. I have consistently looked through the editing over our title sequence and I can admit that everything is going well in accordance to schedule (Google Calendar).

What's next?
  • Carry on with the completion of my evaluation.
  • Make sure our title sequence is finally edited and finished.

Journal - Week 10

For the past week in Media my group and I have successfully managed to get a firm move on with the editing process on our title sequence.

On the last Friday before half term, we were required to show and present our title sequences. Therefore during our first lesson on Friday we consistently worked hard on the editing process. After our first lesson, we came back to the classroom and we were chosen to present our title sequence first.

I would say our first draft of our title sequence worked well mainlybecause the audience in the classroom provided us with postive feedback as well as some negative feedbck.

The positive feedback we received was as follows:

  • Our idea had a good concept

  • Our title sequence was well structured

  • The typography in which we used was releavant to our title sequence

  • In general our mise-en-scene was brilliant

The negative feedback we received was as follows:

  • Our editing can be improved

  • To shorten our title sequence

  • To remove unneccesary examples of cinematography

Explanation of the feedback we received:

Overall, the feedback in which we received was of great significance as we received positive and negative points in regards to our first finished draft of our title sequence. As a group we shall take the feedback we received on board mainly so that we can alter and improve on our first draft of out title sequence.

The negative feedback in which we received shall also be beneficial to us as a group mainly due to the fact that we shall take our negative feedback into consideration and based on the comments we were given we shall alter our title sequence!

However in general, I am pleased with the comments in which were given to us especially seeing as we now know how to improve upon our title sequence.

What's next for us as a group?

My group and I should now begin to continue editing our tilte sequence by taking into consideration the feedback we received. This week eaach individual groujp member should also be starting to think and brainstorm what we shall write on our evaluation. I personally shall be brainstorming within this week; and hopefully during this week I should be able to make a start on my evaluation on our finished title sequence.

Journal - Week 9

For the past week in Media, my group and I have successfully managed to complete the filming element of our title sequence! Therefore we have no more filming to be done.

Overall, what have we done for this past week?
  • We have finished the filming element of our title sequence
  • We have commenced with our editing
  • We have successfully added our typography designs to our title sequence

During Friday's media lesson we as a a group managed to complete the final piece of filming for our title sequence. We arranged to film in a cemetery nearby. We decided to film in a local cemetery mainly because the location of the cemetery is interesting and it also portrays and features a 1950's style building next to it.

As a group we spent around two hours in the cemetery filming the last piece of footage in which was required for our final scene in our title sequence.

How did we find the location?
We found the location to be rather appealing as it is not a location you usually see in other title sequences in which are typical of our genre. The cemetery was rather big; therefore we had plenty of space to use.

Of course we needed to be granted permission to use the cemetery for our filming, so as a group we had a visit to cemetery before hand and we explained what we needed to do and fortunately the workers accepted and granted us permission.

For my next post I shall be posting some location shots up to show how we found the location to be like and also within these location shots there are images of us as a group during the point in which we were filming.

What's next for our group?
As a group, now that we have finished filming for our title sequence we should once again commence with the editing of our title sequence. We are required to show our first draft of our title sequence at the end of this week; therefore our sequence should be coming to an end this week.

Our New Location Shots

Above is our new and improved location in which we shall use for our final Title Sequence. As you can see, our new location was filmed in a Church. We decided to film in this particular Church mainly because we found this location to be suitable in what sort of location we were looking for, and of course we were specifically searching for a quiet yet interesting setting and this Church happened to be that!

I decided to take some shots of this location mainly because I thought it would be good to show on my blog the preparation in the lead up to the creation of our title sequence.

Overall, I took a handful of photos in the church; however I only decided to use these four images above mainly because I believe they portray the location accurately and precisely.

Individual explanation of each image above:

1.) The first image shows the chairs in the church. I see the Church chairs as important mainly because they show the importance of the Church and also they are used as part of evidence to show how old the Church is.

2.) The second image is of two of our group members getting ready to shoot a particular scene from our title sequence. As you can see, the camera angle in which we were going to use was a low-angle shot. This particular image proves that we are sticking to our storyboard!

3.) The third image is of the Church but this time I captured the church from a different and more frankly a better camera angle. For example, I took this image from the balcony of the Church and fortunately this specific angle showed a positive perspective of the Church.

4.) The fourth and final image was also taken from the balcony of the Church; however this image differs from the previous image by the fact that we were actually filming a scene at that current moment.
